Dashing Coons is a small, TICA-registered European Maine Coon cattery located in Ballwin, Missouri — in the heart of the St. Louis metro. We focus on a handful of carefully selected European lines, with a particular emphasis on black smoke, blue smoke, and polydactyl Maine Coons. Our program is intentionally small: we keep a maximum of three breeding females so that every kitten receives direct, personal attention from day one.

If you have been searching for a Maine Coon breeder in St. Louis or a European Maine Coon in Missouri, you are in the right place. Visits are by appointment only — text 618-973-6926 first. No walk-ins. Browse the sections below to learn more about how we work or reach out directly.

What makes Dashing Coons a European Maine Coon cattery?

European Maine Coons trace back to lines developed in Scandinavia and continental Europe. They can have fuller coats, noticeable ear furnishings, and substantial type, while each kitten develops individually. Our queens and sires trace back to these European bloodlines, and pet placements are selected with day-to-day companionship in mind.

Where exactly is the cattery located?

We are based in Ballwin, Missouri, a suburb on the western edge of the St. Louis metro. Visits are by appointment only — text 618-973-6926 first. No walk-ins. Dashing Coons serves the St. Louis metro from Ballwin. Sires and family support are in southern Illinois, but Ballwin is the only public home base for queens, kittens, and visits.

What coat patterns and traits do you specialize in?

Our primary focus is black smoke and blue smoke Maine Coons — coats that shift dramatically from root to tip and develop more depth and contrast as the cat matures. We also breed polydactyl Maine Coons, which carry the naturally occurring extra toe trait. Polydactyl kittens are TICA-registerable and make wonderful pets; they are simply a different structural expression of the breed.

Why do you keep only three breeding females?

This is a deliberate choice, not a limitation. Keeping the program small means every litter gets direct personal care from Samuel — no staff, no outsourced whelping, no kittens raised in a separate room. Kittens are handled daily, socialized in a home environment, and monitored closely from birth through placement. Keeping the program small is how we maintain the quality and attention that a larger operation cannot offer.

How does Dashing Coons discuss health documentation?

Breeding cats are panel-tested for HCM MYBPC3 A31P, SMA, and PKDef — dated reports shared before deposit. Board-certified echocardiograms (Dr. Cecilia Marshall, DACVIM, VSS Manchester) and OFA/PawPeds hips are part of the rebuild — I will not claim those are complete until the report is in my hand. Dashing Coons is registered with The International Cat Association (TICA), and kittens go home with the applicable paperwork. Buyers can also confirm TICA registration independently before making plans.
